How it all began

The origins of Greta and Paul

I'm Julia Vossmann, founder of "Greta and PAUL," and I want to tell you how a simple idea turned into a passion and ultimately a company that makes my heart beat a little faster every day.

I discovered my passion for animals and a love of aesthetics at an early age.

But the idea of combining these two passions into one brand arose rather by chance and out of a personal “need”.

From Cat Basket to the perfect Dog Bag

Our dogs are an integral part of our lives, especially Gretchen, who has accompanied us everywhere for over 10 years.

At first, she traveled quite impractically in a cat carrier lined with a soft blanket. But it quickly became clear that the bulky carrier wasn't suitable for everyday use, so the blanket moved into one of my handbags—and with it Gretchen. Since then, she's loved and lived in bags.

Over the years, I've had many dog carriers, but none could truly offer everything I wanted: comfort, durability, stylish design, and high-quality materials.

The bags were often impractical, uncomfortable, or simply didn't fit our lifestyle. The desire for a dog carrier that would not only transport Gretchen comfortably but also meet all our needs grew ever stronger.

Then the decisive moment came. At an event in Luhmühlen, I met my friend Johanna from CARLITOS handmade and spontaneously asked her if we could develop a dog carrier for the Gretchen together—a bag that combined everything we'd been missing from other models.

Durability, timeless elegance, perfect craftsmanship, and materials that not only look good but also endure a lot. This is how the first Greta bag was born – handmade and unique.

The birth of Greta & PAUL

A passion project, created in collaboration with our community. I posted the first picture of the bag on Gretchen's Instagram account, and the response was overwhelming.

Suddenly, many people wanted to know where this bag came from and if they could get one. And so "Greta and PAUL" took shape. From the very beginning, what made the brand special was that it developed in close collaboration with our community. Our customers made suggestions, shared ideas, and provided feedback on every little detail—what they were looking for in a dog bag or accessory, what they were missing, and how it could be improved.

This close connection with our customers has created a vibrant community that actively shapes our products. Every idea and every piece of feedback flows into the development process and is reflected in our collection – from dog lovers, for dog lovers.

From a crazy idea to a Bag for Life

The first bag quickly evolved into much more: an entire concept that has gained international recognition. What once began as a "whimsical idea" has now become a passion project that travels the world.

Our dog bags, which are now cut with scissors from our own scissor factory and handcrafted at CARLITOS, now accompany dogs and their owners throughout Europe, the USA, and even Australia.

Each bag is an expression of quality and craftsmanship and can be customized – with interchangeable inlays, stabilizing inserts, carrying straps, and even a travel version.

Why “Greta and PAUL” is more than just a brand

"Greta and PAUL" is a matter close to my heart. Our products are designed not only to make the hearts of small and slightly larger dogs beat faster, but also to make us dog owners happy.

Together with our dedicated team and the support of our community, we have built a community that shares our values and lives our vision. From personal interaction to repair services as part of our "Pocket Treatment Service," we offer our customers and their four-legged friends comprehensive service of the highest quality.

It's simply incredible to see that our little bag has now become a constant companion for so many dachshunds and puppies all over the world – and without a big brand name in the background, simply as "Greta's little bag." Whether it's a dachshund taxi, a basket to go, or a flight bag, all the inlays, stabilizers, and accessories are only possible thanks to your support and your ideas.

The response and wonderful feedback from the very first “paw hand” is priceless, and I am infinitely grateful to each and every one of you.
